Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has told Lagos State workers that they can achieve more if they play down on challenges that could hamper their deliverables and focus more on possibilities.
The Governor said that he recognizes the enormous value that knowledge and skills training bring to bear on the attainment of the strategic objective of his administration and the public service of Lagos State.
Speaking at the opening session of a training programme on ‘Leadership Development and Performance Enhancement for Public Servants in Lagos State’, Governor Ambode, who was represented by the Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Dr. Akintola Benson-Oke said he believes that exposing the workforce to consistent leadership training will increase their productivity.
“It is a fact that no problem will be considered too complicated nor any challenge seems too huge for an organization to confront head-on provided that the leaders of such an establishment have been equipped with the requisite skills. I therefore challenge you to envision our dear Lagos State Civil Service as an organization where no problem will be too complicated to handle”, the Governor stated.
He charged the participants to regard the training as yet another effort at kick-starting the monumental task of helping every officer of the public service become impactful, influential and productive in such a way that the output of the Lagos State Civil Service will inspire the citizenry.
The Governor expressed the hope that the outcomes of the training will translate into more dynamism, effectiveness and efficiency for Lagos State Public Service as the State’s vision would become more articulated among the workforce.
The Permanent Secretary, Establishments and Training Mrs. Folashade Ogunnaike said that the training was critical to the State’s development goals.
She added that the State public service must strive for excellence always by communicating in a very concise and clear manner such that the overall goal of the State government will be achieved.
